MetaMask How To(s)

About MetaMask

MetaMask, crypto-wallets, secret phrases, decentralised applications… For many, this jargon feels overwhelming at first, and getting hands-on feels like taking a big leap. The reality is; none of this is actually so complicated, but the benefits one can gain from understanding how to use these tools are huge. Education is at the core of the autonomies project, so we’re happy to break down for you how to use some of these tools.

To use autonomies.io, users need to install and use the MetaMask browser extension. Why you might ask? Because MetaMask allows users to interact with decentralised applications by creating, signing transactions and sending funds around.

Through MetaMask and its integrated services, users can also directly top up their wallet with USDC and MATIC with a bank account or a credit card.

Installing MetaMask in 10 steps

  1. Visit the official MetaMask website and make sure the URL is correctly spelt; https://metamask.io/.
  2. Visit the download page and click on install. The website will take you to an extension web store.
  3. Click on “Add to (your browser)” and “Add Extension”.
  4. Finally, click on “Get Started”.

  6. After clicking “Create a Wallet” you will be taken to a page to page where you can accept or decline to send anonymised report to improve the user experience.
  7. Create a password for your wallet, agree to the terms of use and click confirm.
  8. Watch and read the explainers before you safely write down your secret recovery phrase.
  9. Confirm the secret recovery phrase.
  10. You’re good to go!
